Oil level in an automatic transmission should be supported strictly on a certain size.
Low level of oil can lead to pro-slipping or loss of transfer of a torque while overflow can become the foaming reason that will lead to transmission damage.
Oil level in an automatic transmission depends on oil temperature.
At check the temperature of oil should be 70–80 °C that is reached after a trip on distance of 15-20 km.
NOTE
If the car moved on high speed for an appreciable length of time, or was maintained in a city mode in a heat, or towed the trailer, oil level in an automatic transmission cannot be defined precisely. Stop the engine and wait for 30 mines that oil cooled down to the demanded temperature.
|
Check oil level on the car being in horizontal situation, with a heated-up transmission and the lever of the selector transferred to the situation "Park". Before check at the working engine press a pedal of a brake and move the selector lever through all provisions, beginning and finishing the situation "Park".

At operation of the engine on frequency of rotation of idling take the level index from a directing tube
(fig. 2.3)
. On labels on the index of level check level of oil and its condition
(fig. 2.4)
.

Fig. 2.4. The index of level of oil in an automatic transmission: And — a zone of level of cold oil; In — a zone of level of hot oil; With — area of low level of oil on a cold transmission; D — area of low level of oil on a hot transmission
|
Wipe pure rags the index of level of oil, insert it into directing tube of a transmission and take. Check oil level. If a transmission hot, level has to be in the zone HOT (In on
fig. 2.4
). If a transmission cold, level has to be in the zone COOL (And on
fig. 2.4
).
If level is in the lower part of a zone, it is necessary to add oil in an automatic transmission through directing tube for the level index.
If level of oil is on the bottom label, to the maximum size it will rise at addition about 0,55 more l.
At check of level of oil in an automatic transmission check also an oil condition. Compare it on color, a smell and viscosity to new oil.
If oil in a transmission dark or black with a burned smell, means, frictional overlays of a transmission are worn-out.
If oil in a transmission of dairy color, means, water got to it. It can occur because of condensation of atmospheric moisture at continuous operation of the car in a mode of short trips. If color of oil does not change after a long trip, it is necessary to replace oil.
Because of an overheat of a transmission or too high level of oil it becomes dark brown, sticky to the touch. If replacement of oil does not give result, address in a specialized workshop on repair of automatic transmissions.
If at check of level of oil or oil replacement in an automatic box in oil particles of dirt or metal shaving are found, it is necessary to repair an automatic transmission in a specialized workshop.
