Establish the car on the lift and lift on height convenient for survey.

Check wear and a condition of tires.

Check a condition of the universal hinge between steering shaft and a case of steering transfer.

Check a case of steering transfer on absence of leakages of liquid.

Visually check protective covers of spherical hinges and the reechny steering mechanism on existence of cracks, attritions and aging. Any damages of covers will lead to loss of lubricant and hit in water and dirt, and as a result — to fast wear of spherical hinges or the steering mechanism.

While the assistant turns a steering wheel here and there, check details and steering knots on freedom of moving, wear and reliability of fastening.

Check a condition and люфт hinges of the bottom levers, trying to move mount levers concerning a wheel rim up and down (fig. 2.25) .

Take a forward wheel hands in situation «6 and 12 h» and try to shake it in the vertical plane. Insignificant люфт wheels it is admissible. If люфт big, further check is necessary to establish a cause of defect. Continue to swing a wheel thus the assistant should press a brake pedal. If люфт it is eliminated or it is considerably reduced, that, possibly, nave bearings are damaged. If люфт still big, means, connections and suspension bracket fastenings are worn-out.

Now take a wheel hands in situation «9 and 3 h» and try it to shake in the horizontal plane. Люфт in the horizontal plane it can be caused by wear of the bearing of a nave or spherical hinges of steering draft. If external or internal spherical sharnirny connection worn-out, люфт at once will be appreciable.

In a back part of the car examine plugs of levers of a back suspension bracket.
