Only continuous prevention of the storage battery provides fast and reliable start of the engine.

Before service of the storage battery switch off the engine and all consumers of the electric power, then disconnect "minus" a wire from the negative plug of the battery.

Check an external condition of the case and plugs of the storage battery. Check a condition of the rubber covers closing plugs of the storage battery. Check, that connections of tips of wires and plugs had no traces of oxidation and were reliably tightened. Also check on all length the wires connected to the storage battery, on lack of cracks and isolation damages.

If on plugs there are corrosion traces in the form of white flakes, remove and clear the storage battery.

Disconnect from the storage battery at first "minus" a wire, and then "plusovy".

Unscrew nuts, lift a cross-section clip and remove the storage battery from the car (fig. 2.11) .

Metal brush in shape ершика clear external and internal parts of plugs on wires then wash out them warm solution of baking soda (fig. 2.12) .

Similarly clear plugs of the storage battery, thus be careful, that water and soda did not get to banks of the storage battery.

Check a condition of a basic arm of the storage battery.
