Safety locks serve to break off a chain when the current will exceed a certain value that is necessary for protection of devices consumers and wires which can be damaged by too high current. The sharp increase in a current is usually caused by malfunction in a chain, more often short circuit.

Blocks of safety locks are located in the dashboard and in a motor compartment
(fig. 15.2, 15.3, 15.4, 15.5, 15.6, 15.7, 15.8)
. Numbers, a current and the chains protected by safety locks, are provided in
tab. 15.4

.
The arrangement of safety locks and
the electric chains
protected by safety locks, are given from the inside in a cover of the block of safety locks. Each safety lock has an inscription about size of a protected current.

If the safety lock fused, means, the conductor connecting contacts of a safety lock, is broken off (see
fig. 15.9
).
PREVENTION
Always replace a safety lock with other safety lock of the same capacity.
Never replace a safety lock more than once, without having defined the reason of its peregoraniye.
|
To remove a safety lock, use tweezers for its extraction from the socket. Get a safety lock from tweezers. The wire in a safety lock is easily appreciable and will be broken off, if the safety lock fused.
Establish the new safety lock calculated on the same current. From a reverse side each safety lock has an inscription about size of a protected current. Besides, color of a safety lock also corresponds to the maximum size of a passed current (see
tab. 15.9
).
If the established safety lock fuses repeatedly, check the electric chain protected by a safety lock.
PREVENTION
At all do not replace a safety lock with a wire crossing point as the electric chain of the car can be seriously damaged.
|
PREVENTION
Characteristics of fuses and electric chains can change from year to year.
