The window regulator with an electric drive carries out lifting or glass lowering by the electric motor located at doors. The system consists of switches, the relay, electric motors, mechanisms of window regulators and the electric chains connecting all components
(fig. 15.61)
.
Management of lifting or lowering of glasses is carried out from the main switch located on a door of the driver or separate switches, located on each door. In each door the reversive electric motor of a drive of window regulators is located. Position of the switch defines polarity of the tension submitted to the electric motor.
Each electric chain is protected by a safety lock and the protection machine gun (that relay). Each engine is also equipped with the internal machine gun of protection.
Window regulators with an electric drive work only at the included ignition.
Check of window regulators make as follows:
If window regulators do not work, first of all check integrity of a safety lock and a condition of the machine gun of protection.
If window regulators of only back doors do not work or work only from the main switch, check the switches located in back doors and if necessary replace them.
Check an electric chain between the switch and the block of safety locks and the relay and if necessary restore it.
If from the main switch the window regulator of only one door does not work, check window regulator work from the switch located on a door.
If the window regulator works only from one switch and does not work from another, check a condition of that switch. If the switch is serviceable, check an electric chain between the switch and the corresponding electric motor and if necessary restore it.
If the window regulator does not work from one switch, remove an upholstery of a door and check tension existence on the switch and the electric motor at the switched-on switch.
If tension moves on the electric motor, disconnect glass from the window regulator mechanism, manually move glass up and down and be convinced that glass moves easily and without jammings.
Also check a condition of the mechanism of a window regulator. If the mechanism of a window regulator is not damaged and glass moves easily and without jammings, replace the electric motor.
If tension does not move to the electric motor, check an electric chain between the switch and the corresponding electric motor and if necessary restore it.
After elimination of malfunctions check work of window regulators.
