PREVENTIONS Removal of the water pump make on the cold engine. Do not allow hit of cooling liquid on clothes and a paint and varnish covering of a body. Otherwise wash out a surface a large amount of water. Collect and utilize the merged cooling liquid.

Check of the water pump

The faulty water pump can become the reason of serious damage of the engine.

Get the engine and warm up to working temperature. At operation of the engine compress the top hose of a radiator. If the water pump works normally, in a hose the pressure created by the pump will be felt.

PREVENTION In operating time of the engine do not bring a hand too close to the fan and are far away from the plane of rotation of the fan

The water pump has a drain opening for a drain of cooling liquid from the pump case at damage of a sealing ring. The opening is located under shaft of a drive of the pump from a pulley (fig. 4.12) . If about an opening there is a gray raid from the dried cooling liquid — this normal phenomenon. If there are dark brown stains, means it is necessary to make replacement or pump repair.

For check of wear of bearings of the pump shake a pump pulley. If is available люфт, it is necessary to replace or repair the pump.

Replacement of the water pump on release cars till 2001

Switch off ignition and disconnect a "weight" wire from the storage battery.

Merge cooling liquid.

Remove the gear belt directing and tension rollers.

Turn out a bolt and remove an adjusting support of the generator (fig. 4.13) .

On cars with central air turn out bolts of fastening of the compressor of the conditioner. Move the conditioner compressor together with the wires attached to it and tubes aside and a soft wire fix it on a body.

PREVENTION Do not open central air contour.

Disconnect the bottom hose from a radiator.

Turn out bolts of fastening of the water pump, thus note the provision of bolts as they have different length. Remove the pump and laying (fig. 4.14) . If the pump does not act in film manually, bring down it a kiyanka.

Disconnect from the pump a bypass pipe of system of cooling, then unscrew 2 nuts and disconnect a heater pipe from the pump (fig. 4.15) . Uncover the water pump.

Clear privalochny surfaces of the pump of the remains of hermetic, laying and sealing rings.

Establish new sealing rings between a cover of the pump and the block of cylinders. Establish new laying under a heater pipe.

Establish the pump with new laying and fix bolts, first of all having tightened the bolts shown in drawing 4.16 , then in the sequence shown in drawing 4.17 , tighten other bolts.

Further installation make in sequence, return to removal.

Fill in cooling liquid.

Get the engine and be convinced of absence of leaks.

Replacement of the water pump on release cars since 2001

Switch off ignition and disconnect a "weight" wire from the storage battery.

Merge cooling liquid.

Weaken bolts of fastening of a pulley of the water pump, then remove a driving belt.

Release from a clip a plait of wires and take him aside from the water pump.

Turn out bolts and remove the water pump (fig. 4.18) .

Clear privalochny surfaces of the pump of the hermetic and laying remains.

Put the RTV hermetic roller in diameter of 3 mm on outer side of a groove on a privalochny surface of the water pump (fig. 4.19) .

Establish the water pump and fix it bolts.

Further installation make in sequence, return to removal.

Fill in cooling liquid.

Get the engine and be convinced of absence of leaks.
